Tyson had a hard time adjusting to the noise and chaos of a house full of people. So once downstairs, we had to really coax him into the room with his presents in it. Once distracted, he loved it!
If we look tired, its because we are! While the boys went out skiiing (a Howard Christmas tradition) I headed over to my aunts and uncle's house (and saw my grandparents and cousins and other aunts). Tyson loved this hat and kept it on for quite a while. Having a little guy around sure makes Christmas so much fun.
On a sadder note:
In Memory of Frances Ruth Evans
(picture taken at Christmas 3 years ago)
On Christmas morning, my dear grandmother, Frances Ruth Evans, passed away after a long battle with Alzheimers. She was 81 years old. I admire how my grandpa took on the challenges of caring for her and loved her deeply. Growing up near their home in Arizona, we were very close. I remember many sleepovers with sour dough pancakes and homemade maple syrup, pool parties and barbeques, card games around the kitchen table, and painting with her. This is my first grandparent to pass away and it was really hard. She truly was a smart, beautiful, talented woman who always exhibited such poise and grace. She was fun and witty and boy did she know how to have a party! While Scott drove back to Omaha, I flew with Tyson to Arizona to attend her funeral. It was a beautiful day and I was so glad to have been there. It has been difficult watching her slowly leave us mentally and though her passing is hard and we will miss her dearly, we know that we will see her again perfect and whole!

I didn't know that your grandma passed away on Christmas that must have been so sad for your grandpa and everyone. I'm glad that you could attend the funeral though.
On happy notes,Christmas is so much fun with little kids to play Santa to. It brings make the magic that we lose when we grow up.
I've been meaning to do a post on Grandma too. I'm trying to find a recent picture. She'll be missed.
If that first picture of Tyson "sledding" is any indicator....I don't think he'll be much of a fan of the annual Howard Christmas skiing event!! It sure was fun getting to see you while you were here though!! I'm glad you were able to go to AZ for the funeral also.
Kim, I just re-read your post and thanks for the great tribute to mom. It makes me cry.. but glad you remember her in such a perfect way. Love you, MOM
I am sorry that your grandma passed away on Christmas! It definitely is VERY HARD to loose a grandparent...especially for the first time. I hope you are doing well! At least she is in a better place!
I'm so sorry about grandma!! What a great tribute you wrote. There is something special about girls and their grandmas I think, I have such special memories of both of mine. I hope grandpa is holding up ok.
Isn't Christmas great with a little boy running around! And he definitely gets his cold-hater gene from his mama! Miss you guys and sorry we missed each other over Christmas :)
I was gonna tell you that your hair was getting so long...but then I read the caption that it was taken 3 years ago!
Sorry to hear about your Grandma. On Christmas morning even. So grateful for The Plan.
Looking at Tyson next to the banister makes me think that he's grown a whole bunch! It'll be fun to see Mason and Tyson playing when we get back...the difference in the two will be funny to see. I don't think Mason has grown one bit, but that's just because he's in 24 months jeans that we still roll up...and he's almost 3!
UPDATE YOUR BLOG
I know I'm late with this but sorry to hear about your grandma...it's still hard even though we have all the knowledge about the afterlife and forever families...I'm sure she's watching over you and taking care of that sweet little spirit that will join you soon! {{{HUGS}}}}
